Beaverton, OR - May 7, 2016 - The Lewis and Clark Chapter of the Sons of the
American Revolution this year has signed up with Wreaths Across America (WAA) to
sell wreaths to be placed on veteran’s graves at Willamette National Cemetery on
December 17, 2016.
The kick off program was from 10-11:30 pm on Saturday, May 7 at the Beaverton Resource Center, 12500 SW Allen Blvd., Beaverton, Oregon. The ceremony began with the posting of the colors by the Lewis and Clark Color Guard dressed in their Revolutionary War uniforms.
The program began with the unveiling of the Lewis & Clark’s newly designed Sons of the American Revolution Information Booth which travels to most Color Guard events. The booth is used to inform the public about the Sons of the American Revolution and their “Patriotic, Historical and Educational” goals.
Help us remember and honor our veterans laid to rest all over the country.
“The goal of our ‘Sponsor a Wreath on a
Veteran’s Grave’ program is to help in
the WAA pledge that no veteran is ever forgotten and every fallen hero’s grave
would be honored by a grateful nation,”
said Compatriot Michael Tieman, L&C chapter secretary and program chairman.
“The
second part of our commitment is that the chapter has volunteered to place the
wreaths on veteran’s graves at Willamette National Cemetery on the National Wreaths
Across America Day, December 17. Also, if
you have or know a vet buried at Willamette, and know the exact plot, you can
sponsor a wreath through us and we will lay it on their grave for you.”
There are three ways you can
“Sponsor a Wreath on a Veteran’s Grave” for only $15 per wreath through The
Lewis & Clark Chapter. First, you can sponsor a wreath to be laid on any
veteran’s grave at Willamette National Cemetery, secondly on a specific
veteran’s grave and you can place it yourself or the chapter will place it for
you. Finally you can sponsor a wreath for a grave at any of the National
Cemeteries across the nation. The
chapter is giving 100% of their profits to The American Revolutionary War
Memorial Fund. The memorial is to be located at the Beaverton Memorial Park.
